Portage Free Methodist Church is actively involved in the great commission of spreading the gospel to all parts of the world. We support missionaries in the following areas: Hungary, Africa, Brazil, Chile, Haiti, Costa Rica, Mexico, Hong Kong, the Philippines and here in the United States.

We take an active role in the lives of our missionaries through prayer and financial support, constant communication updates and care packages. Our people often take on special projects and are encouraged to become involved in mission work on a short or long term basis.

We not only see missions as something that takes place overseas, but in our own community as well. Our most recent endeavor is to be involved with local outreach ministries such as:

• Habitat for Humanity
• Youth for Christ
• Loaves and Fishes
• Alternatives of Kalamazoo
• The Kalamazoo Gospel Mission.
• Love, In the Name of Christ

Our goal is to send our S.O.N. Team (Serving Our Neighbors) into the community on a special assignment approximately 10 times a year. We believe we can be most effective in helping other established ministries that are already doing outreach to the poor and disenfranchised of our community.
